No Reserve;
restoration project; large history file; 25 previous MOT certificates; same
ownership for the last 7 years; showing 96,644 miles
First registered in April 1961, this Austin-Healey Frogeye Sprite is
offered as a restoration project and is being sold with no reserve. The car is
classed as a non-runner, as it has been off the road for many years and has not
been started or mechanically assessed by us.
The
Sprite has had five former keepers in total and has been in the current owner's
possession since April 2019. Powered by a 1,293cc engine, it was originally
finished in Yellow before being repainted Green in February
1990.
Despite requiring restoration, the car
comes with an unusually useful history file for a project of this type,
including 25 previous MOT certificates and a selection of invoices documenting a
considerable amount of work carried out over the years. This provides an
interesting record of the car's history and previous
maintenance.
The desirable Frogeye Sprite remains
one of the most recognisable and collectable British sports cars of the period,
and this example offers the enthusiast the opportunity to undertake a rewarding
restoration. Whether returned to its former road-going glory or developed into a
more sporting project, this is an appealing basis for a restoration, with the
added attraction of being offered without reserve.
