The Messerschmitt
KR200 is one of the most recognisable and collectible microcars ever produced.
With its aircraft-inspired styling and fascinating post-war history, the KR200
has become highly sought after by collectors, with good examples rarely coming
to market.
First registered in January
1961, this KR200 Convertible is finished in black and powered by the 200cc
engine. It has had just three former keepers, with an exceptional ownership
history. The first owner, Sir Anthony Oakley, kept the car for over 27 years,
the second owner for an incredible 34 years, and it has been with the current
vendor since May 2022.
The car has benefitted from
extensive recent refurbishment including new tyres and tubes, brake shoes and
cables, wheel bearings, engine mounts, clutch plates, dynastart brushes, fuel
cut-off solenoid, new interior trim, Perspex windows and a new canopy. It has also been professionally resprayed in
two-pack black paint, while the wheels have been powder coated. The accompanying
history file includes four previous MOT certificates together with invoices
documenting work carried out over the years.
The vendor advises
the Messerschmitt starts, runs and drives as you would expect and was driven on
site during photography. The original transferable registration number, XMR 79,
is included if required. The speedometer was replaced on 20th May 2026 due to a
fault, recording 70,897 miles at the time of replacement, with the replacement
unit currently showing 46,547 miles.
A rare opportunity to acquire
one of the most iconic microcars ever built, this beautifully presented KR200
