Few performance Fords have achieved the legendary status of the
Escort RS Turbo Series 1. Introduced in 1984 as the halo model of the Escort
range, its combination of aggressive styling, Recaro interior, turbocharged
performance and limited production numbers quickly cemented its place as one of
the most desirable hot hatches of the 1980s. Today, genuine, well-preserved
examples are increasingly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts
alike.
First registered in October 1985, this
Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 is powered by the spirited 1,597cc turbocharged
engine, coupled to the correct five-speed manual transmission. Finished in the
iconic Diamond White with the unmistakable grey RS Recaro cloth interior, the
car has had just seven former keepers and has been with its current owner since
November 2015.
Displaying just 79,515 miles from
new, the Escort has covered a mere 1,596 miles during the last 21 years,
reflecting its cherished life rather than regular use. The vendor advises that
the car has been dry stored for the majority of its life and, for the past 11
years, has resided in a dry, heated garage, helping to preserve its excellent
condition.
The history file accompanying the car
is extensive and includes 29 previous MOT certificates, nine service stamps, the
original handbook, sales brochures and a large collection of invoices
documenting maintenance and restoration work carried out over the years. This

It was driven to our site for photography and filming, where it started, drove
and stopped exactly as you would expect from such a well-maintained and
