A genuine one-owner; showing
just 18,878 miles; low-mileage example that has escaped modification;
retains its original engine and gearbox; robust four-stroke twin-cylinder engine
with everyday practicality and excellent reliability
The Honda CD175
earned a reputation as one of the most dependable and user-friendly lightweight
motorcycles of the 1970s. Combining Honda's robust four-stroke twin-cylinder
engine with everyday practicality and excellent reliability, the model proved
hugely popular with commuters and leisure riders alike. Increasingly difficult
to find in genuinely original, unmolested condition, surviving examples with
long-term ownership and low mileage are becoming ever more
desirable.
First registered in 1976, this remarkably original CD175 is
offered from one-owner-from-new stewardship and displays just 18,878 miles on
the odometer. The sale comes reluctantly due to the owner's advancing age and
health, ending some fifty years of continuous ownership.
Notably, the
vendor advises that the engine and gearbox have never been dismantled and remain
as they left the factory, a rarity amongst motorcycles of this age. Indeed, the
machine appears to retain a high degree of originality throughout and has
benefited from dry storage during its life.
Although fundamentally
complete and highly original, the Honda now shows its age cosmetically. The
machine presents as somewhat tatty and would benefit from sympathetic
restoration of various trim items and general cosmetic refurbishment. However,
its originality, low mileage and single-owner provenance are undoubtedly its
greatest strengths and provide an excellent basis for preservation or light
recommissioning.
The accompanying history file is particularly pleasing
and includes the current V5C registration document confirming no previous
keepers, the original style log book, five previous MOT certificates, a service
record with written service stamps, the original handbook and a collection of
invoices.
A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine one-owner, low-mileage
Honda CD175 that has escaped modification and retains its original engine and
gearbox. An increasingly hard-to-find survivor that should appeal equally to
Honda enthusiasts, collectors of original motorcycles and those seeking an
honest classic Japanese bike with exceptional
provenance.
