Launched in
2003, the X350 version of the Jaguar XJ was the last Jaguar saloon to retain the
famous XJ silhouette which had been continuously and subtly modernised since it
made its debut way back in 1968.
While it still
looked like a classic Jag, beneath its retro skin lay a high-tech,
aerospace-inspired aluminium monocoque that made it significantly lighter and
stiffer than its predecessors, not to mention most of its German rivals. It was
also packed with advanced features including CATS self-levelling air suspension
that balanced wafting comfort with sharp body control.
The 2007 model year introduced the X358 facelift, which gave the car
a more aggressive, modern stance. Key changes included a redesigned front end
with a more prominent wire-mesh grille and a more muscular front bumper. The
front wings had ‘power vents’ behind the front wheel arches, mimicking those on
the XK sports car, while the rear end gained a subtle boot-lid spoiler and a
cleaner bumper design.
Supplied new by Perry’s
Jaguar of Huddersfield in July 2007, this X358 is the top spec XJR model with a
supercharged 4.2 AJ-V8 engine producing 400bhp and 400lb/ft, mated to six-speed
ZF automatic transmission which made it good for 0-60mph in 5.0 seconds with a
top speed limited to 155mph. The original purchase invoice shows that it cost
£61,157.
Inside, the XJR retains the classic
wood-and-leather aesthetic but with modern luxuries like heated and cooled ‘R’
sport seats, a touchscreen infotainment system with separate screens for the
rear passengers and improved acoustic glass to ensure the cabin remains a silent
sanctuary.
Finished in Liquid Silver Metallic, it
has covered 109k miles to date in the hands of five owners, with an excellent
service history including 11 stamps in the book, the last at 104,581 miles in
May 2023 when it also received new front control arms, tie, track and drop
links. It also got a Caldooly Stage 1 stainless steel air intake for the
supercharger, a well-known mod which reputedly adds around 14bhp and improves
the throttle response and engine sound. The sat nav was updated at the same time
and all four wheel centre caps were renewed.
The
bespoke and well-ordered history folder includes many invoices to support the
service history, plus more recent invoices for other work, including a new water
pump and A/C condenser in October 2025; four new Yokohama tyres in August 2025;
air con regas in June 2025; new rear subframe mounts and upper and lower rear
control arms in September 2023.
Supplied with all
its original handbooks, it has an MOT until March 2016 with just one advisory
for slight wear in the n/s/f upper suspension arm bush. The personalised number
plate, X18 PMD, is included in the sale.
As you
can see in the photos, this fast and luxurious Jag looks to be in excellent
shape for its year/mileage and has been starting instantly and driving nicely as
we have moved it around on site, with no warning lights.
