Mini Cooper Limited Edition 35th year Anniversary; Number 185 of
just 200 built for the UK market; Manual transmission; UK market examples with
full leather interior; fuel injected engine; only completed just over 30,000
genuine miles.
Dating from August 1996 this Mini Cooper 35th
Anniversary edition is one of just 200 UK market cars and is finished in Almond
Green with a Diamond white roof (Flame red was the only other colour option) and
sits upon a set of lovely Gun Metal Grey 12” Special Mini lite style wheels with
silver rims as well as fitment of twin spot lamps and twin fog lamps across the
front as well as special 35th Anniversary decals.
This Mini Cooper now
has had a profession resprayed due to the previous the spray job not being the
best and ended up with two different shades of Almond Green. It now looks
perfect probably better than the day it was new and probably one of the best
available for sale.
It’s also had the rubber suspension cones replaced
plus I had HiLow adjusters fitted at the same time making it easier to adjust
the ride hight, also recently replaced were the front and rear dampers for
uprated gas shock absorbers.
Note: There have been a few Automatic Japanese
imports for sale in the UK which also come with Air Conditioning, but this is a
Genuine British Limited Edition Manual Model.
Under the bonnet we find
the familiar 1, 275cc four-cylinder engine but with single-point fuel injection
(and features a relatively unique engine number starting 12A2EJ66, shared only
with the 1994 Monte Carlo LE version) driving the front wheels via four-speed
manual transmission.
Inside, we find porcelain green leather seats
embossed with Cooper logos with matching leather wrapped badged steering wheel,
walnut dash and cream dials.
This now beautiful example has only covered
a handful of miles since the previous purchase back in 2015 when it had covered
an indicated 28, 700 miles, the lady owner keeping it tucked away in her
garage.
The vendor purchased the car from ourselves (Brightwell’s
Auctions) and although it was driven to the vendor home with a few minor issues,
engine cutting out and gear change wasn’t very positive, all these issues have
now been resolved including an air intake pipe and the clutch slave and master
cylinders were replaced.
The vendor says it now drives like a dream with
a definite Cooper feel to the drive.
One of the fog lamps which was
discoloured and cracked has also been replaced, apparently these original spots
and fogs are now discontinued but managed to locate an original spec lamp in
France, this being the reason why the vendor also purchased the Mini Cooper lamp
covers enhancing the look as well as providing protection for the spots and
fogs.
The car was recently taken on a road trip for three days around
North Wales covering around 400 miles and it did not miss a beat; the vendor
says it was a pleasure to drive and drew a lot of attention.
This Mini
Cooper is very rare and in excellent condition ready to use and enjoy. It runs
like a dream and hugs them corners like it’s on rails. With rust free bodywork
plus no current mechanical issues to deal with. Very low mileage at 30k that’s
an average of just over 1000 miles per year. You’ll have a job finding a limited
edition Cooper 35 in such good condition for this price.
The history file
includes the V5C revealing seven former keepers, an old V5C, a new and unmarked
owner’s pack and blank service book, the current MOT valid until September 2026
with no advisories, a selection of photos of the car showing it to be having
some frontal strip down and repair work, a file of bills for works undertaken
and parts purchased including a replacement bumper and headlight in 2008 and a
service receipt dated May 2022 costing £508 as well as 10 old
MOTs.
Also comes with the Mini is a custom fit Stormproof Cover, not ideal
for long time storage however, this is one of the best covers available for
a temporary solution.
Please be aware this Mini Cooper was recorded Category - C in March
2008 but was repaired and an identity check carried out by VOSA on
10/11/2008.
