First registered in 1991 and imported to the UK from Japan in 2020;
showing 92,254 miles; very impressive order; must be seen
1983 saw the final incarnation of the XJ Series in Series 3 form,
featuring front and rear styling changes and a re-structure of the range, with
the original Sovereign name now used for luxury versions of Jaguar, with
6-cylinder Daimler versions being badged Vanden Plas.
Although production of all six-cylinder XJ models ceased with the
arrival of the XJ40 in 1986, V12 versions of the XJ Series continued for a
further six years, while the new car received modifications to enable a
12-cylinder version to be made. This V12-engined XJ40 finally became available
in 1992.
This particular car was manufactured
towards the end of the production run, having been first registered in Japan in
April 1991, approximately 18 months before XJ production
ceased.
Finished in stunning ice blue metallic
with sumptuous red leather interior, this Double Six is a very comfortable place
to be. Having spent much of its time on the salt-free roads of Japan, prior to
being imported back into the UK five years ago, this is a remarkably clean
example that really has to be seen to be appreciated.
Appearing to drive as it should while on site, a recent invoice from
August 2024 indicates a service with new spark plugs and rocker gaskets being
replaced.
Showing just over 92,000 miles, it has
also recently had four new tyres fitted, as per the advisories during the last
MOT in August this year. Unfortunately, the vendor has just not had time to have
it re-tested before the auction. It does still hold a valid MOT until 27th
September though.
The vendor reports that the car
has undergone a minor repair to the nearside front passenger door (supporting
photos are available) resulting in a Category N status being
applied.
A beautifully presented Daimler showing
the true elegance of the brand.
