Description
Sound little Prefect that has seen little use for a while; nice and
original; running and driving; classic motoring on a budget and a trip down
memory lane
The chassis number tells us that this is a 1953 Prefect
E493A, the current V5C not showing a manufactured date but that it is a Historic
Vehicle and therefore free to tax and MOT-exempt.
It has been with the
current registered keeper since at least 1997 when it appears to have been
re-registered SRB 846. There is no paperwork prior to this, so we suspect that
this is when it was restored and put back on the road. It has also been
converted to 12 volts.
A string of old MOTs dating from 1997 show just a
few hundred miles a year being added. Its most recent MOT was
issued in July 2010 with no advisories recorded and it has only covered
about 50 miles since, the odometer currently showing 76,772
miles.
It retains a lot of originality, particularly on the interior
which is old but nice, and the paintwork has faired well and could be
further improved with a deep cut and polish.
It is up and running
and has been driving round the site at Brightwells having come from long-term
storage. It will need a new battery but has started easily with a
jump pack and would make an ideal 'use and improve' Classic to get your
teeth into over the winter break.
