Description
Running and driving; recent battery; sound condition with strong
bodywork; ideal for display or promotion
This 1932 Cowley Van was
acquired by its previous owner in 2015 from a significant collection of
Commercials owned by the late Jim Derry, at which point it had lain dormant for
several years.
A quick check over soon had it running and it was issued
its current V5C shortly after, letters from the Morris Register dating the van
as mid-1932 and fitted with a 13.9hp engine.
It was described by Morris
as their 1932 season Morris 8cwt 'Flatnose' Light Van. The body looks to have
been comprehensively restored, the van being fitted with some period front seats
from a car offering, we suspect, considerably more comfort than those
originally fitted.
The bodies were designed in Cowley, but built by
Coventry (bodies branch) and shipped back to Cowley for fitting. These 1932
models had wider doors and oval rear windows which differentiated them from
earlier vans.
It has recently been fitted with a new battery and has been
running and driving around on site.
With plenty of room in the rear, this
van should provide reliable service for years to come and would make an ideal
'round town' delivery vehicle, an excellent way to promote your business or
to enjoy as a pre-war commercial at local shows and events.
