AMMENDMENT
Dating from June 1988
this smart Land Rover 90 hails from pre-Defender nomenclature times and is
finished in Arrow Red, sat upon 16” steel wheels finished in white shod with
decent Terratoura Davanti All-Terrain tyres and looks very good
indeed.
Ammendment** Under the bonnet,
we dont the find the original 2.5 litre turbo-diesel Falcon engine, instead we
find a 200tdi 111bhp unit (from a Discovery I) which we gather was fitted
by a previous owner driving all-four wheels via five-speed manual
transmission.
This truck has been the subject
of a major rebuild using a new galvanised chassis, a new galvanised bulkhead,
the engine, gearbox and transfer box were stripped and reconditioned, new
suspension (shocks/springs/bushes) was fitted along with new brake pipes, hoses,
discs and pads fitted, the PAS system was attended to with new belt, damper
bushes and ball joint, a new radiator was installed, new fuel pipes tank and
cap.
Other repairs were also made to the turbo actuator and wiring
system, as well as fitment of new seats, three new doors, refurbished rear body
cappings, fitment of new side steps, installation of sound proofing under the
existing floor coverings, seats and over the engine, new door handles, hinges
and front bumper along with of course the respray inside and out in its original
Arrow red.
This work was all carried out by
Churchill 4x4 Ltd of Hanbury, Worcestershire through the winter of 2021 into
2022 (at 116,751 miles) at a cost of some £35,000 with some further works
undertaken in January 2023 to include supply and fitment of a new sunroof,
centre bulkhead lowering kit and extended seat rails, new rear seats and cubby
box plus supply and fit of engine oil breather at a further cost of £3,615 (at
116,934 miles) – current mileage 117,243.
These
extensive works have resulted in the super truck we see here, with just over 200
miles covered since completion and are documented within the history file on
invoices with numerous accompanying photos of the works, BMI heritage trust
technical data sheet for this specific vehicle along with Factory Record,
numerous other more historic bills for parts, V5C showing eight former keepers
to our vendor, original period sales brochure, 10 old Mots plus the current,
valid until July 2024 recording no advisories.
