Description
2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500
(R230)
Powerful 5.0 V8 with panoramic glass roof; much
recent expenditure and veteran of many enjoyable UK
tours
Dating from January 2003 this earlier R230 series
features the powerful 306bhp 5.0-litre V8 and is finished in Brilliant silver
with contrasting Anthracite leather interior and silver dash trim, ABC air
suspension, automatic transmission with tiptronic option, automatic lights with
headlamp wash and also the optional and desirable panoramic glass and metal
folding roof.
The car sits on attractive 18inch AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels,
which suit the car better than the more 'standard' 17inch options available in
the day. Showing just over 101,000 miles, the car looks in good order and has
been enjoyed on various UK classic car tours.
The history file includes
the V5C, old V5, duplicate service book showing nine entries, a mix of
stamps and hand written entries. Some are however faint, it looks like the book
has got wet and been dried out at some point - the last entry looks to be in
2017 at 92,194 miles along with a letter from MB confirming three
additional main dealer services in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
The current MOT
runs until June 2022 and shows six advisories (check online, enter the reg
at https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/), a
further eight old MOT certificates accompany this. Invoices on file
include a recent £2,000 spend on the ABS system, a bill for some £3,543 in
October 2018 for overhaul of the air suspension by MB Neyland plus two new
batteries in August this year and four new catalysts just recently in
October 2020 along with new discs, pads and callipers at the same
time.
Appearing eminently usable with a fortune spent on upkeep, this
surely bodes well for the new owner, permitting turn key motoring in all
weathers with that lovely retractable panoramic glass roof and heated seats to
ensure year-round enjoyment top up, or top down.
