Just five
former keepers; two tone paint work applied in 1997; runs and drives: Driven to
auction over 40 miles; Ex Show Car
The
Sunbeam-Talbot 90 is an important post-war British sports saloon, combining
elegant styling, robust engineering and genuine sporting pedigree. Produced by
the Rootes Group, the model earned an enviable reputation in competition,
including impressive performances in the Monte Carlo Rally, helping establish
the sporting credentials that would later influence models such as the Sunbeam
Mk III and Sunbeam Rapier.
First registered in
July 1951, this example has had just five former keepers and is powered by a
2,267cc petrol engine coupled to a manual gearbox with column change. Originally
finished in Green, it was tastefully repainted in its current Blue/Grey during
September 1997.
The car has been in its current
ownership since October 2023 and is accompanied by the original brochure and
booklets. For further history, the original Buff Logbook is also
included.
The vendor informs us that the car was
formerly an exhibition/show car, and the bodywork condition is said to exceed
what might normally be expected for a vehicle of this age. The Sunbeam is MOT
exempt, although it was voluntarily MOT tested until May 2026 for peace of
mind.
The vendor drove the car approximately 40
miles to the sale and reports that it drove well, starting, running and stopping
as expected during its journey and while on site for photography and
filming.
Combining elegant styling, post-war
practicality and genuine rally heritage, the Sunbeam-Talbot 90 is an
increasingly rare and distinctive British classic. This former show car offers
an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-presented and characterful piece of
Rootes history, ready to be enjoyed on the road or added to a discerning
collection.
