The Volkswagen T4 Transporter has
become a highly sought-after modern classic, combining Volkswagen's renowned
practicality and durability with the distinctive styling and versatility that
has made the T4 a favourite amongst enthusiasts and camper
converters.
This 1995 Volkswagen T4 Transporter
Caravelle GL D is finished in Maroon with a Grey Velour interior and is powered
by the 2,370cc naturally aspirated diesel engine coupled to a five-speed manual
gearbox. First registered in August 1995, it has had four former keepers and has
been in the current ownership since August 2016. The vendor has, however, known
the vehicle since 1999.
The odometer currently
displays 138,137 miles. The vehicle is offered with an MOT valid until July 2027
and is accompanied by an impressive 26 previous MOT certificates, old tax discs
and a collection of invoices documenting work carried out over the
years.
Of particular interest is a comprehensive
breakdown supplied by the vendor detailing work carried out on the T4 from 1999
to the present day. This provides an unusually detailed insight into the
vehicle's history and makes for interesting reading.
The vendor drove the Transporter over 50 miles to the sale and
reports that it starts, runs and drives as expected, as demonstrated during its
journey and while on site for photography and filming.
Overall, the van appears to be a very solid example. The lacquer on
the roof and bonnet has started to peel, which does not affect its running but
would benefit from cosmetic attention, particularly if the next owner intends to
undertake a camper conversion.
With its low
ownership, substantial history and excellent potential as either a practical
classic van or the basis for a camper conversion, this T4 Caravelle offers an
increasingly desirable and versatile modern classic.
