Launched in
2005, the Mk2 Ford Focus ST (often dubbed the ST225) was one of the best hot hatchbacks out there, blending
everyday practicality with raw performance. While the original Focus was praised
for its sharp chassis, the Mk2 ST elevated the formula by packing real muscle,
aggressive styling, and a uniquely stirring soundtrack.
At the heart of the Mk2 ST was a Volvo-sourced 2.5-litre,
turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine. Producing 222bhp and 236 lb-ft of
torque in stock form, with a six-speed manual gearbox, it could sprint from 0 to
60mph in around 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 150mph. The signature
five-cylinder warble, accompanied by deep exhaust burbles and occasional pops,
gave the ST far more soul than four-cylinder rivals like the Golf
GTI.
What elevated the ST-3 over the entry-level
ST-1 and mid-spec ST-2 was its upgraded interior which featured Recaro heated
leather seats with deep side bolsters, a premium Sony audio system and dynamic
handling tweaks, including 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels and uprated
brakes.
First registered in March 2007, this ST-3
was modified for track day use about 10 years ago but remains road legal. It has
covered 93,187 miles, the service book showing six stamps, the last at 87,505
miles in December 2016, plus various supporting invoices. There are also
invoices for additional maintenance, including a new timing belt kit in May 2016
at 84,100 miles (see photos).

It also comes with a spare set of ST alloys with Rainsports tyres
(90% tread remaining) and a spare decat exhaust. Recently fitted with a new
battery, it has two keys and the original bookpack. Seven old MOTs show the
mileage rising from 56,079 in November 2012 to 91,855 in February
2022.
In the current ownership since January
2020, the vendor advises that it has been in storage for the last two or three
years so it will doubtless benefit from a precautionary check-over before the
performance is exploited to the full.
As you can
see in the photos, it looks to be in good shape for it’s year/mileage and has
been starting promptly and running nicely as we have moved it around on site. On
offer here at no reserve, it should make an exciting track day or fast road car
for someone.
