Few
cars can match the grace, beauty and enduring appeal of the Jaguar E-Type.
Widely regarded as one of the most elegant automotive designs ever produced, the
Series 1.5 4.2 combines breathtaking styling with strong performance and remains
one of the most sought-after British classics of all.
First registered in
January 1968, this particularly attractive E-Type is finished in its original
and highly desirable shade of Opalescent Golden Sand, complemented by a light
tan interior. Supplied from new in right-hand-drive specification and powered by
the legendary 4.2-litre XK six-cylinder engine mated to a manual gearbox, it
offers the quintessential E-Type driving experience. Accompanying the car is a
Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming its factory specification, while the
current V5C records just two former keepers.
Showing 77,784 miles, this
E-Type has been cherished by its current owner for an impressive 43 years and
has clearly benefited from substantial recent expenditure. Most notably, the car
has received a full repaint in its original colour, the elegant Opalescent
Golden Sand suiting the flowing lines of the car particularly well.
The
exterior presentation has been further enhanced with the fitment of new wire
wheels, new tyres and fresh two-eared spinners, while the chrome work throughout
presents beautifully and adds enormously to the car's visual appeal. Mechanical
improvements include replacement brake callipers, a new cooling fan, replacement
battery, an electrical overhaul and a recent service, all carried out to a high
standard.
The interior has received similar attention, with the dashboard
professionally re-trimmed in leather, a replacement headlining fitted, new seat
coverings installed and the boot area refreshed with new lining. Pleasingly, the
original steering wheel has been retained, preserving an important element of
the car's authenticity and character.
The history file includes the V5C,
a copy of the original old-style logbook, one previous MOT certificate, a small
selection of invoices and the aforementioned Jaguar Heritage
Certificate.
The vendor advises that the Jaguar starts readily on the
button and has been running and driving whilst on site with us. However, having
spent a period in storage, it should be considered a running and driving project
that would benefit from a degree of recommissioning before being returned to
regular road use. Nevertheless, it appears to provide an excellent basis, with
substantial recent cosmetic and mechanical expenditure already undertaken and
much of the hard work completed.
