Charming small-frame scooter; delightful period
character; nimble handling and excellent fuel economy
Finished in a striking shade of
blue, this charming 1967 Vespa 90 Douglas presents as an appealing
small-frame scooter with a delightful
period character. Recently fitted with a new seat trimmed in Macintosh tartan,
it cuts a distinctive figure and has been readily starting on site, running and
riding for both the video and photography sessions.
The Vespa 90 was introduced in the
mid-1960s as part of Piaggio’s popular small-frame range, offering light weight,
nimble handling and excellent fuel economy. In the UK, production and assembly
were undertaken by Douglas of Bristol, who had been building Vespas under
license since the early 1950s. These Douglas-badged machines are now sought after
for their distinctive British-market details and their role in
establishing Vespa’s enduring popularity on UK
roads.
The
accompanying paperwork includes the current V5C, which records just two previous
owners, and confirms the scooter is now correctly registered as a
Historic.
