petrol engine
This half-scale
replica of a Bugatti Type 55 has a fibreglass body and a steel chassis and is
believed to have been made by French company Stimula/De La Chapelle in the
1970s/80s.
It is powered by a Fichtel &
Sachs 49cc Saxonette single-cylinder, two-stroke, air-cooled engine with
two-speed automatic transmission and a top speed of around 15mph –
20mph.
Other features include: Bugatti-style
alloy wheels with Michelin tyres; Bugatti-style horseshoe radiator surround;
adjustable perspex windscreen; rear drum brakes; chain-driven rear axle; lift-up
body; leather bench seat; adjustable pedals; working headlights and tail lights;
working speedo; rear luggage rack and case.
Owned by our vendor for the last seven years, we are told that the
Bugatti is in good running order. The dimensions are 204cm long x 100cm
wide.
It is worth noting that these Type 55
Junior children's cars were produced in very limited numbers and are a popular
choice among the participants in the 'Little Big Mans' race at the Le Mans
Classic.
