Presenting a modern classic that needs no introduction to true
performance enthusiasts — this exceptional Audi RS6 C5 Avant. A true icon of the
early 2000s performance era, the RS6 perfectly blends understated executive
styling with ferocious twin-turbo V8 power, creating one of the most revered
super-estates ever produced.
First registered in April 2003, this 2003
Audi RS6 Quattro Auto is finished in timeless Avus Silver Pearl effect,
beautifully complemented by Black Valcona leather upholstery and carbon trim.
Power comes from the formidable 4.2-litre twin-turbocharged V8 (4172cc), paired
with the smooth and capable 5-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s legendary
quattro all-wheel drive system.
This example has covered just 107,500
miles from new and has been in current ownership since April 2021, with nine
former keepers recorded. It benefits from a strong and well-documented history
file stretching back nearly 20 years, including numerous receipts and invoices,
all handbooks, the original sales brochure, and two keys.
When new, this
RS6 carried a total list price of £71,125, including £5,225 of desirable factory
options, namely Exclusive Alcantara headlining, Exclusive Valcona leather
upholstery, an electric slide/tilt glass sunroof, and auto dipping and folding
door mirrors.
Mechanically, the car has clearly been cared for. The
timing belt was replaced at 104,436 miles, while the gearbox received a service
including filter in August 2021 (less than 500 miles ago). The well-known Bufkin
pipe issue has been proactively addressed with a billet replacement in 2021,
alongside a new radiator the same year. The engine has consistently been
maintained using Mobil 1 oil, with the most recent oil service carried out in
January this year.
This RS6 also benefits from thoughtful and desirable
upgrades. The troublesome factory Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) suspension has been
replaced with coilovers for improved reliability and drivability. Breathing and
soundtrack have been enhanced via K&N air filters, carbon induction pipes,
and a cat-back Milltek exhaust system, which delivers a deep, purposeful tone
without being intrusive. Included in the sale is a pair of stainless-steel
Gravity Sports catalytic converters, still boxed and never
fitted.
Visually, the car sits on genuine Audi A8 20-inch alloy wheels,
styled after the original 18-inch factory design, giving the Avant a more
assertive and contemporary stance. Inside, the in-car entertainment has been
upgraded to a retro-look Apple CarPlay system with CD, DAB radio, and Bluetooth
connectivity, subtly modernising the cabin while retaining period
character.
Adding a touch of cinematic pedigree, the RS6 C5 Avant is
famously the same model driven by Daniel Craig’s character in Layer Cake,
further cementing its reputation as the thinking enthusiast’s performance weapon
of choice. Appropriately, the registration number LA03 YER (“LAYER”) is included
in the sale, making this example particularly fitting for fans of the
film.
The vehicle was driven to site from the Welsh border and has been
starting, stopping, and driving exactly as expected during photography and video
preparation.
Rare, immensely capable, and increasingly collectible, this
well-maintained Audi RS6 C5 Avant represents a superb opportunity to acquire one
of the definitive super-estates of its era.
