Showing only 26,793 miles; British off-road
vehicle; has spent many years on display; rare and ready to be
enjoyed
The
Austin Gipsy is a rugged British off-road vehicle produced by
Austin.
It was
designed as a direct competitor to the Land Rover, aimed at both civilian and
military markets. Featuring a 2,199cc petrol engine driving a four-wheel drive
system with high and low range.
This example has spent the last 10 years on
display in a well-known north Wales based Land Rover specialist (Jones Brothers)
alongside a very early series 1 Land Rover.
The rare and more desirable SWB Pickup version
with drop down tailgate and easily removable fiber glass
canopy.
We are
informed by the vendor that the petrol engine was fully Rebuilt around 10
years ago and is in excellent running order with good compression. The 4x4
system is fully operation including low and high gearbox. The brakes were all
historically rebuilt but unfortunately there’s little paperwork to back this as
it was all done in house to a good standard.
The body is of steel construction with around
21,000 units built, this being a later model it benefits from independent
suspension all-round. Unlike the Land Rover
equivalent.
Only
being sold due to the closure of the vendors business and subsequent lack of
storage space.
The MOT expired in July 2024 but has only
covered 33 miles since last tested.
Has been starting and running on site, ready to
be enjoyed.
