The Renault Clio 172 is a beloved hot hatch
that marked a turning point for Renault-Sport weighing in at around 1100 KGS and
featuring the 2.0L 16-valve inline-4 engine (F4R730), producing 172 PS driving a
5-speed manual (JC5-089 gearbox) producing a 0–60 MPH time of around 6.6
seconds.
Famous
for its agile chassis and lift-off oversteer, it’s no wonder they are often
spotted competing at hill climbs or track events.
First registered in January 2002 and showing
only six former keepers and with the current owner for over six years. The
current MOT certificate is valid till August 2026.
The paperwork includes the current
V5C, the original handbook, eight old MOT certificates, numerous maintenance
invoices for parts, including a cambelt and dephaser pulley in November 2020,
exhaust silencer box in 2023 and a new power steering pump, belt and tensioner
in June 2025.
It
has been used as daily transport for the last six years, only offered for sale
as the vendor purchased another Renault-Sport vehicle in our last auction they
also report that the car uses no oil water between services. It was driven to
the sale and has been starting and driving as you can see in the
video.
Condition
wise, the rear arches seem to be rust free (a common issue) there are some
localized rust and stone chips on the bonnet, the cars original windscreen has a
small crack on the passenger side and another stone chip. The seats and
headliner are showing some signs of wear, overall a great improve as you drive
hot hatch.
Included in the sale are the original 172 alloy
wheels.
