Just
two former keepers from new; recent overhaul expenditure; starting and running
beautifully
This
Beetle was first registered in February 1972 and has had just three owners
throughout its 51 years.
Used as a perfectly reliable daily driver for
many years, in the early '90s it had an extensive restoration completed by
Francis Tuthill of Tuthill Porsche. Presenting rather nicely both inside and
out, the paintwork is still in good condition, as are the bumpers. On the inside
we find clean and tidy upholstery with little wear.
The
vendor recently purchased this from us after searching for a rust-free example,
then in July 2025 a thorough recommissioning was undertaken.
The
braking system was renewed with new wheel cylinders, brake light switch, hoses
and fluids. The electrical system had some gremlins dealt with and the front
indicators re wired.
The
engine was removed and fitted with a new crank oil seal, then a new flywheel and
clutch, while in the engine bay the carburettor and pump were rebuilt and now
starts without hesitation.
Finally,
a reset of tappets and the engine timing, fresh oil, new filter, drive belt
and points had the engine running sweetly, and the suspension joints freshly
greased this Beetle is ready for its new owner to enjoy immediately.
Now
only offered for sale due to the vendor unable to drive for medical
reasons.
