Only six owners
in 79 years; 23 previous MOTs; used at many events, shows and
proms
After the war the Austin 8 was
manufactured in a slightly different way than the pre-war 8s. The main
differences were, steering wheel, chrome plated headlights instead of
spray-painted ones, horizontal air filter instead of vertical air filter, over
riders on the bumpers, full back bumper instead of quarter ones, trunk handle,
moveable licence plate carrier on the trunk lid, cast steel gear box instead of
aluminium one.
Only two models were available after the war, the six
light four door saloon and the van. The tourer and the four light two door
saloon were no longer available.
This Post War 8
was first registered in September 1946 collecting only six owners in 79
years and two of those were in the same family.
Coming from the same home as Lot 82, there are 23 previous MOTs will
be included in the sale, along with a few invoices and several old
logbooks.
The car has been seen at Austin
shows, steam rally’s, proms and many other events over the
years.
Was driven to the auction over
18 miles without issues and has been driven on site starting and driving while
photos and videos were carried out.
