Outstanding aluminium-bodied pedal car from long-term
ownership; perfect for little feet; numbered 033316
This fabulous
pedal car has been in the current family ownership for over 30 years. We are
told that our vendor’s late-father acquired it as a stable-mate for a full-size
vintage Rolls-Royce that he also owned at the time, possibly at a Bonhams
auction, paying in the region of £8,000.
As you can see in the
photos, it is in lovely condition and has even won awards at car shows – an East
Ayrshire Car Club ‘Class Winner’ rosette is in the boot, and it has its own ‘Car
Care Kit’ housed in a vintage-looking Shell oil can.
Built on a steel
chassis with an aluminium body, we have established that it was made by one of
the most renowned craftsmen in this very specialised market niche. A
vintage car enthusiast and collector, he has built many miniature versions of
exotic cars owned by some very distinguished clients over the years – some
of them intricate ‘tool room’ copies, some just fun playthings for children.
While he does not wish to be named here, he has agreed to let us pass
his details on to whoever buys this car. He also made the superb Bentley
Speed Six pedal car elsewhere in this sale (Lot 3).
While any child would be thrilled to have this in their
Christmas stocking, like they say: 'Youth is wasted on the young' and we can't
help feeling that the sheer quality of the thing would be better
appreciated by sophisticated adults. Perfect for any man cave, it would also
look sensational in a trendy cocktail bar or gentlemen's
outfitter.
It measures 55" long x 23" wide x 25"
high.
Our vendors travelled over 350 miles to get
this car to Brightwells (don't worry - they didn't pedal it, they put it in the
back of their BMW), so please reward their efforts by the generosity of your
