Limited
number car - 478 of 500; Renault master technician rebuilt engine just 4,500
ago; lightweight hot hatch, fantastic original specification; pure hot hatch
driving joy!
The
Renault Sport Clio 182 Trophy is a true legend of the hot hatch world, produced
in very limited numbers of only 500 for the UK and 50 for
Switzerland.
With
its powerful 2.0L naturally aspirated engine producing 182 BHP and weighing only
1090 kilograms this delivered pure driving joy and often
hailed as one of Renaultsport’s finest moments.
The
specification includes Sachs remote reservoir dampers, Recaro Trendline seats,
Speedline Turini alloy wheels, exclusive Capsicum red paintwork and an
individually numbered plaque, this car being number 478 of
500.
This
limited edition Clio looks fabulous in its signature red paintwork, showing very
little signs of its age, the bodywork and trim are a credit to the care given by
the previous owners, the seats are original, and the protective covers used by
the vendor have been removed for the photographs but are
included.
First
registered in October 2005, it was purchased by the current owner in 2017, a
Renault master technician by trade and a massive fan of the RenaultSport
brand.
During
his ownership the car received much pampering as the hefty folder of receipts
confirm, in late 2017 at around 88,000 the engine suffered a valve
failure.
To
rectify this the original engine was fully rebuilt using genuine parts plus a
replacement head and pistons. This was a thorough rebuild with new, valve seals
and guides, piston rings, crank and main bearings, oil pump, cambelt, water pump
and pulleys.
Other
work includes new rear brake discs and calipers with numerous trim parts
being refinished. In 2014 BG
Motorsport serviced the struts and powder coated the bodies with an invoice
for £1,347.46
Starts
and drives just like a RenaultSport Clio Trophy should and this one benefits
from the engine being fully rebuilt by a talented Renault master technician only
4,500 miles ago.
