Description
This rare collectible Citroen Cabriolet has an interesting history;
there are only a few right hand drive versions left in
existence
According to the original advertisement from a Classic
Car dealer in New Zealand from whom the car was purchased, this
Cabriolet was recreated about 43 years ago by an engineer who used a one owner
1953 Slough built Traction Avant Light 15 donor car along with the remnants of a
1939 cabriolet. This car has the engine, gearbox & running gear of the 1953
L15 and now appears to be almost identical to a 1939 Cabriolet.
Prior to being imported into the UK, the dealer in New Zealand stated
that the car had an engine & gearbox overhaul including a new clutch and
some light body improvements prior to being imported to the
UK.
The car runs and drives with no
obvious mechanical issues that we have found while driving the car for
photographs and a video, it seats four including the rear dickey seat and it
seems to love the road, winning various competitions in New Zealand in the past.
The car features a fully hinged lying flat windscreen option, factory cabin
heater fitted, leather seats (with the originals also included), Michelin tyres
and the soft top seems in impressive order.
Included in the sale is the
tool kit, workshop manuals along with some servicing and maintenance
record.
Giving the appearance of a very rare 1930s French Cabriolet, this
looks like very good value at the estimate suggested.
