Description
Effectively one owner until 2022 and only 9,800 miles from new;
featured on Wheeler Dealers; time warp condition; driven 90 miles to the
sale
Okay, a humble
Ford Fiesta 1.1 isn’t something you would normally expect to see in one of our
auctions but before you get too sniffy, check out the odometer on this little
time capsule. Yep, only 9,830 miles indicated.
This car was discovered by TV personality Mike Brewer and was
featured on his Wheeler Dealers Dream Car series in 2022. At this point
it had been in storage for many years and was only showing 8,681 miles. The car
was so good it only required former F1 mechanic, Elvis, to carry out a service
and adjust the tappets to get it roadworthy. It was subsequently sold at auction
where it made substantially more than the guide price suggested
here.
First registered to Ford dealership E Ward
of Wellingborough in February 1985, it was used as a demonstrator for two months
before being sold to a Mrs A Dyson of Kettering, the original purchase invoice
showing that it cost £4,335 including mud flaps and rubber floor mats. She was
to keep the car for the next 37 years until Mike Brewer got hold of it although
he never got it registered in his name.
Our
vendor acquired the car at the auction in 2022 and has added another 1,150 miles
to the odometer, including driving it 90 miles to Brightwells. Unlike Mr
Brewer, he did put it into his own name so the V5C records two
previous owners, the supplying dealer and Mrs Dyson.
Finished in Mineral Blue with a grey cloth interior, this Fiesta is
in totally original condition. Our vendor had a new exhaust fitted and had it
serviced in July 2023 at 9,034 miles but other than that it is just as it left
the showroom 40 years ago.
Yes there are a couple
of split seams on the front seat covers and the original paintwork has lost some
of its lustre but still – where would you find another one?
Starting promptly and running very nicely indeed as we have moved it
around on site, it has an MOT until July 2026 with no advisories recorded. There
are also four old MOTs and, as it is now 40 years old, it will be exempt from
this test from next year onwards. The original handbook is also present, along
with a Mike Brewer Motoring business card.
Your
only dilemma will be whether to enjoy it as a cheap and cheerful Eighties
runabout, or to keep it tucked away in mothballs as an
investment…
