Fabulous miniature copy of Woolf Barnato's Jarvis-bodied 1925 Bentley
3-Litre Super Sports; a unique one-off made by one of the best craftsmen in this
specialised business; superb quality; a fine ornament for any man cave or a
wonderful gift for a child
This fabulous
pedal car has been expertly made by one of the most renowned craftsmen
in this very specialised market niche. A vintage car enthusiast and collector,
he has built many miniature versions of exotic cars owned by some very
distinguished clients over the years – some of them intricate ‘tool room’
copies, some just fun playthings for children.
This particular car is a
fine reproduction of the one-off children’s car originally built by
one-time Bentley Motors chief tester, Bob ‘Tester’ Tomlins. His car was a
miniature tribute to the unique Jarvis-bodied 1925 Bentley 3-Litre Super Sports
which was specially made for famous racer and ‘Bentley Boy’, Woolf Barnato (see
last 7 photos).
With its streamlined boat-tail
styling, Barnato's Bentley set various speed records at Brooklands (all
commemorated on a plaque in the engine bay of this car). Partnered by John Duff,
Barnato went on to set a new 3-Litre record at Montlhery in the same car,
averaging 95.03mph over 24 hours of non-stop driving. Barnato later sold the car
to Land Speed Record holder JG Parry-Thomas and it still survives today and is
thought to be in a private collection in Australia.

While any child would be
thrilled to have this in their Christmas stocking, like they say: 'Youth is
wasted on the young' and we can't help feeling that the sheer quality of the
thing would be better appreciated by sophisticated adults. Perfect for any
man cave, it would also look sensational in a trendy cocktail bar or
gentlemen's outfitter...
