Description
Current owner 14 years; only 8,600 miles on rebuilt engine and
gearbox; recent new wire wheels and tyres; rear subframe rebuilt; stainless
steel exhaust; electronic ignition; 2:88 ratio LSD; advisory-free MOT; a super
E-Type at a tempting guide price
This gorgeous
E-Type comes with a Heritage Certificate showing that it left the factory in
August 1969 and was originally Sable with a Beige interior. A RHD car for the UK
market, it was supplied new via PJ Evans of Worcestershire. A DVLA print-out
gives details of all nine previous owners, all in the Midlands, the first being
Forge Garage of Hagley. Our vendor acquired the car in October
2011.
It comes with a very large file of invoices
back to 1990 to show meticulous upkeep over the last 35 years which will take
the next owner many happy hours to digest. Although it is showing 6,622 miles,
the actual mileage is 121,000 due to a documented speedo change in June 1991
since when it has only covered 8,000 miles.
In
1990 at 112,379 miles the engine was fully rebuilt by Coventry Car Care with new
pistons, bearings, oil pump, timing chains, reground crank etc. The cylinder
head was also rebuilt and a new clutch and flywheel fitted. Taking the speedo
change into account, it has done 8,600 miles since.
Between
1992 and 1994 it had a fairly major going-over by Jaguar specialists BR Motors
of Hinckley which included bodywork repairs; reconditioned gearbox; brake and
suspension overhaul; replacement limited slip diff with 2:88 ratio plus much
else besides. From 1998 - 2003 it was kept in professional storage, then
recommissioned and used very lightly before going back into storage once more.
When our vendor acquired the car in 2011 it had
been in storage again since 2005 so he had it thoroughly serviced and
recommissioned and fitted a new stainless steel exhaust. He has covered some
3,400 fine weather miles in the car since, always keeping it garaged when not in
use.
In 2013 it got a new set of chrome wire
wheels and tyres. The rear subframe was also rebuilt including new hubs, brake
discs and shock absorbers. New front shock absorbers, hubs and bearings were
fitted in 2014/15. More recently it has had a new 123 electronic distributor,
new anti-roll bar bushes and a refurbished fuel pump.
Regularly serviced and waxoil treated, we are told that it drives as
well as it looks. Although it no longer needs one, it has an MOT until September
2025 with no advisories recorded. It also comes with a bespoke E-Type indoor car
cover with Jaguar logo plus a pair of rear seat belts which can be fitted by the
new owner if desired (the anchorage points are already in
place).
Driven to the sale on a boiling hot day,
it has been starting instantly and running very nicely indeed as we have moved
it around on site, with healthy 40psi pressure.
As you can see in the photos, this pampered E-Type looks very pretty
indeed, both above and below, with just a few minor paintwork blemishes on the
rear wings (as pictured).
On offer here at a very
tempting guide price, it needs nothing more than a proud new owner who can reap
the rewards of all the good work so recently carried out.
