Full body restoration; engine rebuild; new brakes, suspension and
tyres; refurbished wheels completed around 2018/19; currently showing 73,023
miles; driven 60 miles to the sale
The RS Turbo was the
high-performance model in the Ford Fiesta Mk3 range and was introduced, as a
three-door version only, in April 1990.
They were powered by a 132bhp,
CVH 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine with a Garrett T2 turbocharger offering 0-60
in 7.3 seconds and 130mph.
The transmission was lifted from an Escort RS
Turbo and the suspension was developed to cope with the higher cornering
speeds.
This example is finished in Radiant Red with contrasting teal
pinstripe mouldings on the front bumper, rear bumper and along the flanks. This
is complemented by the Recaro interior, which is badged on both front seats.
During 2018/19, the car was treated to a full body restoration, engine
rebuild, new brakes, suspension, tyres and refurbished wheels. We have been told
the engine rebuild was carried out by a known Ford RS Turbo enthusiast with a
handwritten list of work carried out (included in the photographs here) and
showed 69,137 when work was completed.
There is a plethora of parts
receipts included, showing some items used for engine rebuild and there is a
current MOT until October this year showing no advisories.
Currently
showing 73,023 miles, the car was driven 60 miles to the sale.
