Description
Only 53,618
miles indicated; well-equipped and ready for the show season; Heritage
Certificate; driven 50 miles to the sale
Built in March 1965, this Series
IIa was sent directly from the factory to the Central Army Vehicle Depot in
Feltham. We believe it was retired from military service c.1998 although the V5C
states that it was first registered as HVK 265C in May 2015.
The Heritage
Certificate shows the bodywork was originally finished in Light Stone, now
obviously finished in green and black with the logbook updated to record the
colour change. The interior is still kitted out as an ambulance, including the
original stretchers, making this an ideal attraction to take to
shows.
The history folder comes with a handful of invoices, including a
brake overhaul in May 2016 which cost £749 including new brake lines, a later
master cylinder and sundry other items. In June last year a new exhaust back box
was fitted, while other invoices show minor remedial work including a fuel cap
gasket, windscreen wipers etc.
A quick look online shows three MOTs have
taken place since 2015, the last issued in May 2017 with just one minor advisory
(surface rust on brake pipes) since when it has covered some 2,000 miles. The
odometer currently shows 53,618 miles which is more than likely correct as these
military ambulances tended to lead fairly quiet lives.
Presenting nicely
and driven some 50 miles to the sale, this rather cool Ambulance has been
starting promptly and driving nicely as we have moved it around on
site.
