Description
Just 2,537 kms indicated; believed to be the only example in the UK;
fitted with electronic power steering; all the bells and
whistles
First registered in Japan in March 1983, this Toyota
Land Cruiser FJ61 was converted to a fire truck by Morita. Powered by a 2F 4.2
petrol engine driving the wheels via 4-speed manual transmission, it is
showing only 2,537 kms which is believed to be
correct.
Reputedly used as a fire truck at a Polyplastics
company factory in Fuji, this Land Cruiser was shipped to the UK four years ago
with all duties paid and was registered here as GEL 882Y in August
2020.
Showing just one previous keeper since arriving here, our vendor
has owned the car since 2021 and has enjoyed taking it to various shows to raise
money for the Air Ambulance. He has fitted electronic power steering which
makes this '80s Land Cruiser an absolute doddle to drive and
maneuver.
Kitted out with all the usual fire truck bells and whistles,
the sirens and lights appear to be in good working order. Mechanically all seems
good too, and this rather cool Japanese import has been driving around
nicely on site.
Invoices on file show a new water pump was fitted along
with a fresh gasket in April 2021, the electronic power steering being fitted
in January 2022. A check of the MOT history online shows that it has
covered some 540 kms since arriving here (335 miles) and has always passed the
test with no advisories recorded. Classed as a Historic Vehicle on the V5C, it
is now MOT-exempt and free to tax.
An excellent present to yourself this
Christmas, this uber-rare fire truck is thought to be the only one in the UK,
looks in great shape and is sure to attract a great deal of attention
wherever it goes.
