Lot Ended
Description
One-family-owned from new and showing only 28,326 miles;
completely original and unrestored; for recommissioning following 10 years in
storage
Supplied new by Godfreys of Cardiff in March 1978, this MkIV
Ford Cortina comes to us in 1600 GL spec and has been in our vendor's
family from new, passing from husband to wife in
2004.
It shows just 28,326
miles on the clock, the same as at the last MOT in 2014, and we are
told that it has been garage-stored since and that the indicated mileage is
correct. The condition of the interior gives one no reason to doubt this
claim, the beige velour seats, matching carpets and vinyl door cards all
appearing to be in super and original condition.
Under the bonnet,
we find the 1.6 litre four-cylinder cross-flow petrol engine with four-speed
manual transmission driving the rear wheels.
Outside, we find
period brown bodywork with chrome bumpers, Rostyle wheels and typical vinyl
roof. The car presents well, showing some marks and areas of minor corrosion
typical of the model and commensurate with its age and time in
storage.
The history file includes the
V5C showing just one former owner plus a couple of old MOTs from 2007
and 2009.
A rare opportunity to acquire
what must be one of the lowest mileage, unrestored Cortina MkIVs surviving, it
is on offer here at No Reserve, so the highest bid takes it
home.
