Description
On offer from a
Special Cotswold Collection; 'flat-rad' two-seater with pokey 2.0 OHC Pinto
engine; twin spares; a hoot to drive!
Rolling out of the Morgan factory in 1951, this Morgan Plus 4 was
first registered on 7th December, believed to have been originally
painted in orange and black and would most likely have been powered by a
2,088cc Standard Vanguard engine.
The history
folder unfortunately does not shed much light on it’s early life, but at some
point it has been resprayed in green and fitted with a rather punchy
2.0 OHC Ford Pinto engine from a later car.
Equipped with a full set of weather gear, it all looks to be in
good condition. The underneath appears solid and looks as though it has been
waxoyled to protect it from the elements. Under the bonnet the Ford-derived
engine looks at home and the bodywork, which is far from concours, means you can
really use this car without having to worry about every stone chip or entitled
Audi driver using your Morgan as a door stop in Waitrose car
park.
A quick look online shows MOTs took place
in 2011 and 2016, the latter showing no advisories. In the history folder we
find invoices dating back to 2017 around a year after it came into our vendor’s
ownership, these invoices including a new alternator in May 2019 and in
September 2020 a major service was carried out including diff and gearbox fluid
change alongside a new starter motor. All work was carried out by Spraytech in
Cirencester.
Starting promptly
and running nicely on site, this little Morgan with a big heart is an
absolute blast to drive and would make an excellent companion over the summer
months.
