Description
From a deceased estate; ex-USA; rare factory built convertible, one of
only around 500 made; imported in 2015 with all correct
paperwork
The Interceptor was launched in
1966 and was improved gradually over the years, arguably to its pinnacle
with the Mark III in 1974. This was also the time the Convertible was
introduced, the most prestigious of all Jensen models. Always rare to see, we
are fortunate enough to have two on offer in this sale.
The majority were made for the American market,
so they have always been a rare sight on UK roads. Before the Jensen factory
closed its doors in 1976, some 500 convertibles were built, 191 of
which were from 1974. Highly desirable at the time, many saloon owners paid good
money having their closed cars converted with varying degrees of success.
This LHD Mark III is a genuine
factory-built model presented in Copper Brown, although unlike the other Jensen
in the auction, we have not been able to retrieve original factory records for
the car.
The US Certificate of Title shows
it was with a lady in Illinois since at least 1992, before being imported
to the UK via Gullwing Motor Cars in 2015. It has had just two
Hampshire owners since then.
On offer here
from a deceased estste, the car is in need of recommissioning and has not been
started or driven for a considerable time. The interior looks to be in good
shape and while the photographs give a good indication of what work needs doing,
we highly recommend that you come and see it for yourselves.
The US Certificate of Title, NOVA number and
import papers are all included in the file to help with registration in the
UK if required.
