Description
Factory built in 1999; thought to be under 30,000 miles in
total; Vauxhall 1.6 engine; eight recorded keepers; driven 30+ miles to the
sale
Purchased directly from the factory in 1999,
there are five further service stamps on file from the factory up until 2001
when it showed 11,622 miles. We understand at approx.16,000 miles in 2007, the
speedo was changed, so now showing 12,258 miles, the total distance covered
appears to be about 28,258 miles. That said, the MOT history states 12,254 in
2018, 2020 and 2021 and bearing in mind it drove over 30 miles to the auction,
we have to assume the odometer might be faulty.
Thought to have never been an academy car or raced, it is
presented in typical yellow, green and black and looks a lot of fun.
Roughly 100bhp of fun in fact…
Registered on a Q
plate, which is not unusual for these cars but is thought to be so because in
1999, Caterham were using rebuilt Ital axles and Ford Type 9 five-speed
gearboxes to build the cars.
There is what
appears to be an unused tonneau cover and a removable Momo steering wheel
inside.
The most
recent full service was recorded in 2014 by Hampsthwaite Garage Ltd in
Yorkshire, when it showed 8,759 miles.
A
relatively low mileage pocket rocket (it is unlikely to be considerably
different to what the speedo shows), this is bound to be a lot of fun and was
last put through an MOT in July 2022, which only highlighted that the offside
track rod end ball joint has slight play.
