Description
Three owners from new; only 31,200 miles indicated, believed genuine;
recently recommissioned following 20+ years in storage; driven 90 miles to the
sale; long MOT
First
registered in February 1974, this Jaguar XJ6 Series 2 SWB has had just three
owners from new and comes with correspondence stating that the first owner sold
it to a friend and then subsequently bought it back in 1999 when it had covered
29,182 miles. The car was then put into storage where it remained until it was
sold at auction in 2021.
Over the last couple
of years the car has been fully recommissioned as detailed in invoices and notes
on file. This has included a full brake overhaul with calipers professionally
refurbished by Bigg Red, new master cylinder and new pipes and hoses. The rear
wheel bearings have been renewed along with the starter motor and the water
pump.
The rear axle has been removed and
overhauled with new springs and bushes as required. The gearbox has been
serviced with fresh oil and filter. The carburettors have been overhauled and
the engine serviced with new plugs, leads, oil and filter etc. The fuel system
has also been refurbished as required. The outer sills and the rear valance have
been renewed and a new set of tyres fitted along with a modern Sony CD/radio.
The car now shows 31,225 miles which is
believed to be correct although there is insufficient history to warrant this
figure. It has an MOT until August 2024 with just three minor advisories (slight
play in front ball joints; slight oil leak). It also comes with an original
owner’s handbook and maintenance chart.
Driven
90 miles to the sale, the vendor states that the car runs and drives well. It
has certainly been starting promptly and running nicely as we have moved it
around on site, with good 40psi oil pressure.
Please note that the
private number plate shown is being retained by the vendor and the car
will be fitted with plates showing its original registration
number (SNV 796M) prior to the sale, as shown on the current
V5C.
