Description
Running
well on site; recent invoices; very presentable inside and
out
The Austin 5cwt van was introduced in
July 1953 and was heralded as a considerable step forward in light commercial
vehicle design. Over the years the Austin 5cwt was uprated, first to 6cwt and
then to 8cwt by the addition of heavier springs and larger tyres.
First
registered in January 1969, this Austin 6cwt van is propelled by the BMC 1,098cc
A-series engine, applauded for its reliability, ease of maintenance and great
fuel economy.
Coming to us in good order, the
interior looks to be in nice condition, the rear bed also looks to be solid and
ready for work. On the outside the paintwork looks to be in overall fine order,
some small rust spots are starting to creep through in the usual places, but
overall this looks to be a very solid van indeed.
A reasonable history folder shows some invoices dating from
2019-2022 where we can see a new battery was fitted along with a new exhaust,
invoices for a lube service plus a new set of spark plugs, some other service
items and a braking test performed by Three Mills Garage in Hereford, that it
passed. A spare gearbox comes with the van, along with some other
spares.
Overall, this looks like a great
opportunity to own an iconic British van to use for shows, business advertising
or just as a classic work horse.
