Description
26,200 mile four-owner Herald; fitted with overdrive and
twin-carbs; lovely order; driven to the sale and ready to
enjoy
Brightwells sold this super Herald to its current owner in
2019. Its previous keeper had owned the car for more than 30
years during which time it was always garaged and only driven in good
weather.
Supplied new by Dockholme Garage of Long Eaton in 1969, a copy
of the hand-written sales ledger entry is included in the history file that
accompanies the car. This also includes many invoices, a hand-written history of
the work done in the previous owner's hands and 34 old
MOTs.
There is sufficient documentation to support the remarkably low
mileage of 26,202 miles, if that were needed; as the condition of the car is
evidence enough. It really sparkles and looks refreshingly original bar the
vulnerable area under the brake and clutch master cylinders which has been
repainted and looks very smart.
The underbonnet is nicely presented
and the interior looks barely worn.
Its current owner used it as a
project over lockdown - not that it needed any restoration work. He decided
to fit a Triumph overdrive gearbox (the original is in the boot) and a pair of
Spitfire carburettors. This has perked it up no end, we are told, and it has
been a pleasure to drive around the site.
.
The isn't much to add as
the condition of the car tells all. It must be one of the best out
there...
