Description
Ex-MoD and demobbed in 1984; reconditioned petrol engine; Toro
overdrive; runs and drives
AMENDMENT - Please note although the above
details state 'MOT and Tax exempt' this MIGHT not be the case. All details on
file prove manuafacture as 1973, but bearing in mind it is on a 'Q' ,
conversations may need to be had with the DVLA to push through an
exemption.
The Heritage Certificate and military
records on file confirm chassis 951-01850 as being first despatched in November
1973 to the Central Army Vehicle Depot in Hilton.
Military records show this lightweight being used by various Light
Air Defence Regiments between 1974 and 1980 before being transferred to the 49
Field Regiment until 1984 when it was demobbed and sold via BCA Manchester
to enter civilian life and be registered as Q424 GFR. It has had five
owners since.
In 1996 the original diesel
engine was removed and replaced with the current reconditioned 2.25 petrol
unit plus all the related fittings. It seems that it has only covered
around 1,000 miles since but this cannot be
warranted.
As can be seen in the photographs,
it has the correctly fitted hard top with windows. The bulkhead seems in good
order and the chassis underneath seems equally respectable.
It is fitted with the rare Toro overdrive which we are told acts
smoothly and gears in the high and low boxes are believed to be in working
order.
Sensibly estimated here, it offers
something a little different for the discerning Land Rover
collector.
