Lot Ended
Description
Built in
2002; Jaguar XJ6 4.2 running gear with manual overdrive and triple carbs;
various new parts recently fitted; MOT-exempt; driven 50 miles to the
sale
As with the other Aristocat elsewhere
in this sale (Lot 111), this car is based on a kit supplied by Autotune using a
steel spaceframe chassis bracketed to accept XJ6 running gear with a lightweight
GRP body on top. The kits met the IVA requirements and this car, which was built
in 2002, passed the SVA test in July 2003.
Based on a 1979 XJ6 Series 2 (GOF 274V), it has a 4-speed manual
gearbox with overdrive on 3rd and 4th and has been fitted
with triple HD8 carburettors from a 1966 Jaguar Mk10 to give it E-Type levels of
performance. It rides on 15” MWS bolt-on wire wheels with Pirelli tyres and has
XK140 boot and bonnet badges, Jaguar leaper mascot and a two-piece
windscreen for that period XK look.
Described as a 2003 Aristocat Sports on
the V5C, it is classed as a Historic Vehicle so it is free to tax and
MOT-exempt.
There are a few invoices
for routine upkeep over the last few years (carbs overhauled; new fuel pump;
full service in 2019 etc), while 12 old MOTs show that it has only covered
around 8,000 miles from build.
Our vendor (who
is the 4th owner) acquired the car just over a year ago, driving it
back from Somerset to the Midlands. He has carried out a few jobs on the car and
fitted various new parts (alternator; water pump; coolant hoses; rear suspension
bushes; power steering rack overhaul) and reports that it runs and drives
well.
Supplied with a private plate which is transferable (DUI 9555), it
also comes with a good hood and sidescreens, an original Aristocat Autotune
build manual, XK140 handbook, various club magazines and a Haynes manual.
Driven 50 miles to the sale, it has been
starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on site with good
50psi oil pressure.
