Description
Nice old Austin 12 on offer for less than the price of a 7!; room for
the family; luggage carrier
Dating from February 1928,
this Austin 12 Tourer was manufactured at Longbridge at
the height of Austin's success. It was the baby Seven that had saved the
company from bankrupcy, but the trusty 12 continued right through, gaining in
popularity thanks to the comprehensive range on offer and Austin's fine
reputation for reliabilty - 'The Dependable Austin' no less.
This one has
been in the hands of the current keeper for the last 10 years but comes with
little in the way of history. It retains its nice original features, including
the carriage door handles, luggage carrier and hood and sidescreens.
A
suppliers plate shows it was sold at one point through a dealer in Dungannon in
Northern Ireland, the car starting instantly and sounding very sweet as we moved
it around onsite. The Austin 12 has a notably sweet running and smooth
engine with a five-bearing crankshaft.
On offer with an estimate
considerably less than an equivelent Chummy, it looks excellent value and looks
ready for action.
