1982 Jaguar XJS HE

Supplied new by Barretts of Canterbury Ltd in September 1982 this striking, earlier Jaguar XJ-S HE is finished Racing Green with a tremendous County Tan interior colour which sets the car svelte lines off beautifully.

Up front, we find the typical 5.3-litre High Efficiency (HE) V12 engine developing 295bhp driving the rear wheels via three-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, we find the wonderful Tan interior, with matching carpets along with light wood trim, cruise control, electric windows, heated rear screen and radio/cassette player.

This storming example shows just 37,019 miles which is believed to be accurate.  The monstrous history file that accompanies the car includes the V5C revealing just five former keepers, an old V5C, owner’s manual, photo album showing the car being comprehensively restored through the mid noughties and a mammoth file of bills dating back to 1983 for routine service work and parts purchase. It also supports the restorative works through the mid-2000s, although there are reams of bills for parts purchased from Jaguar main dealers and SNG Barrett, there are no bills specifically for actual restoration work with bills for more recent (2011) service work also present.

The file also includes the original order form dated September 1982 for the car confirming the exterior and interior colours and cruise control as a cost option, total bill amounting to £20,576 along with nine old MOTs and other technical info.  The current MOT is valid until September 2023 and records no advisories, also showing the car to have covered just 8 miles since the last MOT in 2017.

The car presents beautifully and has clearly been the subject of meticulous spend and attention to detail, starting promptly while we moved it around for these shots. It represents an exciting opportunity to buy a good one that’s had huge sums spent on it and looks the bees knees.
