2000 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Version 6
Totally
original and unmodified; low mileage; an exceptionally well-preserved example of
this cult JDM classic; investment alert!
First
registered in Japan in July 2000, this Subaru Impreza STi Version 6 was imported
to the UK in May 2018 by a JDM specialist in Greater Manchester from whom the
current owner acquired it in July 2018. It has only covered around 1,000 miles
since arriving in the UK, spending most of its time in storage with the
occasional run on dry, unsalted roads to keep everything working.
The odometer currently shows just over 64,700
miles but the actual total could be closer to 40,000 miles as it is a mixture of
kms and miles. The speedo was converted to MPH at the time of import and the
odometer now records in miles.
Invoices show
that it had a full service including a new timing belt kit at 64,257 miles in
July 2019. In April 2020 it had another light service (oil, oil filter, K&N
air filter) at 64,361 miles. In April 2022 it had a new battery with a 3-year
guarantee at 64,431 miles.
It has been MOT’d
three times since arriving in the UK, always passing with no advisories, the
current MOT being valid until April 2023. It was driven some 30 miles to the
sale and has been starting promptly and running sweetly as we have moved it
around on site, with no warning lights on the dash.
The car
appears to be completely standard and unmodified apart from an extra pair of
Raybrig driving lamps at the front; a rear fog light to meet UK requirements
(integrated into the light cluster); a Hornet alarm/immobiliser and a Pioneer
Carrozzeria sound system with remote control and boot-mounted CD changer. It
even retains the original STi stainless steel exhaust and the original STi floor
mats.
The Pure White paintwork (code 51E) is
in very good condition and appears to be all original. The bodywork is also very
good with no rust, dents or evidence of any previous repairs. The underside is
equally good with no signs of corrosion. The interior is also in good condition
with some minor age-related bobbling to the cloth on the driver’s seat squab.
The dash has a few clips and fixings glued to it which presumably housed some
gizmos when it was in Japan.
It rides on a
matching set of Bridgestone Potenza S-01 tyres which have plenty of tread. It
also comes with the original space-saver spare wheel and retains its original
handbooks in Japanese. A new Forge dump valve is also included but is yet to be
fitted.
Wikipedia states that only 2,000
Version 6 saloons were made between October 1999 and September 2000 and as the
last of the ‘classic’ GC8 generation STi models it is widely considered to be a
modern classic with proven investment potential.
Unmodified, rust-free and low mileage – this STi ticks all the
right boxes and could well prove a canny buy at the sensible guide price
suggested.
