On offer from a deceased estate; one owner from new; turbocharged 850 T5 with manual 'box; just 89.781 miles; for light recommissioning following 8 years in storage

Supplied new by Lex Volvo main dealers of Clifton, Bristol in August 1995 to our sole owner who is sadly now deceased, the car has been off the road, unused since 2014 remaining in the family garage, on SORN.

The deceased’s wife has decided to offer the car for sale, in an ‘as is’ condition, as pulled out of her garage.  The car will start and run but looks to have an alternator fault which was discovered ahead of coming up to us for auction and thus discharged its battery while running, so this will need investigation.

Finished in Burgundy, the car looks well bar some age-related lacquer peel to the rear spoiler, minor scuffs and discoloration of the grey plastic bumper trim.

Under the bonnet of this 850 T5, we find the potent 2.3 litre turbocharged B5234T five-cylinder petrol engine which developed (when new) 222bhp and a mighty 340NM of torque offering surprising performance of the era, with zero to sixty mph dispatched in just 7.2 seconds when coupled to the five-speed manual transmission as we see here – quite the figures for the mid-90s and no surprise it became a favourite for use as unmarked traffic police cars.

Inside the typically comfortable and well optioned cabin, we find a cream leather interior with electric adjustment and 3-stage memory for the driver, walnut trim, on-board computer, automatic dual zone climate control with AC, heated rear window and mirrors, cruise control, original Volvo Premium Sound System, heated front seats, electric mirrors and electric windows.

The car shows just 89,780 miles which is low for one of these old Swedes, famously capable of intergalactic mileage.  The history file includes the V5C showing just one owner from new, two old style V5’s. the owner’s pack and service section recording eight stamps, the last at 17,941 miles in December 2003. 

We also find some 15 old MOTs in support of the mileage, with the last MOT carried out in 2013 at 81,824 miles and a few old sundry bills.

A rare car in nice order with low mileage, sole ownership that needs some minor re-commissioning following time off the road on offer at No Reserve.
