1992 Subaru Brat
No Reserve
Wow,
just 26,689 miles and in sole family ownership from new; solid truck
that needs some minor works and cosmetic improvement following time in storage -
find another like it?
Supplied new by Motorhouse
Prestbury Ltd of Cheltenham in March 1992 this later model, 2nd
Generation Subaru Brat pick-up is one of those vehicles that everyone like to
‘coo’ over, many with fond memories of these handsome and capable
workhorses.
This example shows just 26,689
miles and has been in sole family ownership since new starting at Great Bailer
Farm in Tregar, South Wales and then migrating with the famer’s son to his own
farm in Bridgend.
The car has seen little real
use over the years, under the stewardship of the farmer’s wife and in storage
for much of its later life and ownership, as a result the condition is most
uncommon in that its not been battered and doesn’t look to be rotten as many
suffered from.
Under the bonnet, we find the
typical 1.8 litre EA-81 four-cylinder Boxer engine mated to four speed manual
transmission and all-wheel drive.
The history
file includes the V5C recording just three former keepers, the owner’s pack with
service book showing seven stamps inc. PDi, the last in October 2002 at 25,433
miles before it was put into storage.
We also
find a few invoices including a £402 spend in 2018 on an MOT and four part worn
tyres, two old MOTs and the most recent MOT dated August 2022 in which it failed
on six counts all relating to brakes (pipes, pads and imbalance) plus four minor
advisories.
An exciting car to recommission
given its low mileage and unmolested condition with some minor works required to
get it back on the road. On offer
at No Reserve, the highest bid takes this Subaru legend home.
