Description
1961 Morris Minor 1000 Series III
Oily rag
example from local ownership that's seen little recent use; would benefit from
some cosmetics; solid basis; alternative seats fitted
Dating from May 1961, this examples hails from the British Motor
Corporation era and is a Minor 1000 Series III produced between 1956-1971 and
one of a surprising 847,491 produced during this time.
Finished in blue/grey, the car has been with our vendors (husband
and wife) for the past seven years but has not seen any use since the Pandemic,
the elderly vendor being particularly vulnerable, the car has remained
garaged. Inside, we find the
partial fitment of much more modern seats that look to be from a Ford Ka (we
think), the driver’s seat is attached, the rear partially fitted and passenger
loose. Its not a change we’ve seen before but looks like it could work in this
four-door saloon version.
Under the bonnet, we
find the familiar 948cc inline-four A-series engine with manual ‘box. Starting and running of sorts, the car
moved about but would clearly benefit from a service, check-over and
tune-up. That aside, the underside
looks in good order and has evidently benefitted from some spend there not too
long ago. The bodywork is fair but
the paint won’t win any awards, but would work on a ‘use and improve’ or oily
rag type basis.
The history file is limited and
includes only the V5C revealing 10 former keepers (the previous being the
husband to the current wife owner) SORN notification and a few sundry bills for
an MOT, new horn plus new ignition and door lock set all in
2017.
