1996 BMW 328i Coupe (E36)
Smart, four-owner
automatic 2.8 litre Coupe from 12 year ownership showing just 69,674 miles with
stacks of history
Supplied new by Wood BMW of
Bournemouth in April 1996, this later E36 generation of 3-Series comes in
desirable Coupe form, and is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic, sitting upon a
set of BMW 16” twin-spoke alloy wheels and looks to be in standard
specification, largely uncommon to find which is most
pleasing.
Under the bonnet of this 328i, we
find the 2.8 litre M52B28 straight-six petrol engine, which develops a mighty
190bhp and 280NM of torque driving the rear wheels here, via five-speed
automatic transmission with Sport, Winter and Economy modes.
Inside, we find grey leather comfort spec seats with electric
driver’s operation, leather wrapped steering wheel, black trim, digital climate
control with AC, trip computer with check control, electric tilt and slide
sunroof, retro-fit Pioneer radio CD player, electric windows and electric
mirrors.
The car shows just 69,674 miles and
comes to us from a deceased estate, having been with its owner since February
2011.  As can be seen in the images,
the car looks to be in lovely, original order, starting and running well as we
moved it around for these shots and the accompanying video.
The history file includes the V5C revealing just three former
keepers, the owner’s pack and service book recording eight stamps, the last in
January 2011 by a local Mercedes & BMW specialist at 56,747 miles. The
service book also includes a further two stamps for brake fluid and coolant
changes plus one for a body inspection in April 2000.
In addition, the file includes a useful 21 old MOTs to back up the
uncommonly low mileage plus a selection of parts and maintenance invoices
including a recent AC re-gas in October 2021, new battery in May-21, replacement
OS window regulator and motor in December-20 and new windscreen in July-19. The
last documented service looks to have been in November 2018 at 64,972
miles.
In addition, we find the current MOT,
valid until August 2022 which recorded just one minor advisory for slight play
in the NSF lower suspension ball joint.
The MOT history also reveals the car to have covered just 4,000 miles in
the last four years.
Ready to be enjoyed, these
bigger engine E36 coupes are great fun and immensely practical offering ample
performance with supreme comfort and ooze a retro-cool factor lost by many of
the newer BMW offerings on the market.
