2015 Land Rover Defender 90 XS County Station Wagon
Only one owner and 1,340 miles from new; XS spec;
factory two-tone seats; privacy glass; special colour; diesel engine; very smart
indeed
The Land Rover Defender (L316) was
produced from 1983 – 2016 although it was only branded as the Defender from 1990
onwards to differentiate it from the new Discovery. A significant step up from
the old Series III, it borrowed features from the Range Rover such as coil
springs all round which greatly improved both ride quality and axle articulation
compared to the leaf-sprung models of old. A two-speed transfer gearbox with a
lockable centre differential gave permanent 4x4 capability and the wheel arches
were extended to cover new wider-track axles.
In order to attract families as well as farmers, an upmarket County
version was made available with improved interior trim, while a top-of-the-range
XS spec was also available from 2002 onwards which had a host of luxury options
such as heated leather seats, heated windscreen, air con, ABS and traction
control, electric front windows and improved dashboards with better illumination
etc.
From 2012 the diesel versions got the new
Ford Duratorq ZSD-422 engine, a 2.2 turbo which produced the same power and
torque as the old 2.4 unit (153bhp/400Nm) but with much cleaner emissions. Mated
to a six-speed gearbox, the Defender could now cruise comfortably at motorway
speeds.
This stunning Defender 90 XS diesel was
purchased new by our vendor in November 2015 and has covered only 1,340 miles
since. Always kept in a heated garage, it has many special options including
Montalcino Red paintwork; a black roof; rear privacy glass; two-tone
Pimento/Black heated leather seats; grey cloth headlining; air con; rubber floor
mats; Momo steering wheel; special alloys etc.
In super condition throughout, it comes with its original bookpack
and an MOT until November 2022 and has been running beautifully as we have moved
it around on site.
The last of the separate chassis Land Rovers, these
Defender L316 models have developed a cult following of late, especially on the
export market. Your only dilemma with this one will be deciding
whether to use it as its makers intended, or to wrap it up in mothballs as an
investment...
