1974 Land Rover Series III 88"
Tidy and
appealing Series III with canvas top that starts and runs sweetly; driven to the
sale; ready to be enjoyed
Dating from January
1974 this tidy red Series III Land Rover 88” is thought to
have been a Fire Chief’s vehicle (according to a note on file from the
vendor) and looks to be in super order. Starting promptly and running very
sweetly as we moved it around for these images it had an instant ‘likeability’
about it.
The underside looks tidy as with the
bodywork and interior, with limited signs of age/use in the rear load area and
to the canvas roof.
Under the bonnet, we find
the time served 2,286cc four-cylinder petrol engine.
The
history file for the Series III includes the V5C recording four previous owners
to our vendor, a private collector, a bill from Interpro Automotive Ltd/LongLife
for a rolling road tune and set up after fitment of a LongLife stainless exhaust
at 67,229 miles in April 2019 at a cost of some £1,354, bills for various bulbs,
oil filter housing and two old MOTs, the last of which expired in May 2020
during the Covid pandemic recording just one minor advisory for steering box
seepage OSF – however the vehicle is of course Tax and MOT
exempt.
Thanks to the recent fitment of a new
carb, this Landy is ready to be enjoyed for both work or play.
