Description
1962 Morris Minor 1000
Restored in 1990 and
only around 11k miles since; current lady owner 13 years and kept in a nice warm
garage during this time; very tidy all round
This Morris
Minor two-door was bought new from Hills of Tredegar in June 1962 and remained
in the first owner’s family until 1994. It then had three further keepers until
our vendor acquired it in 2009.
In late 1990
it was restored by St Woolos Auto Repair Service of Newport, Gwent, at a cost of
£3,500, the work being detailed in an invoice on file (bodywork, paintwork,
brightwork, carpets etc). In 1994 at c.80k miles it appears to have had a new
head set, timing chain kit and exhaust valves. Other invoices attest to routine
upkeep over the following years.
17 old MOTs
show that the car has always been in light regular use, covering some 10k miles
since 1994, the odometer currently showing just under 90k miles which is said to
be correct. In the 13 years that our vendor has owned the car it has always been
kept garaged and well-looked-after, proving very reliable and covering nearly 7k
miles during this period.
The
bodywork appears to be in very good shape, both above and below, and the
paintwork is still nice and shiny. The interior is also in good shape apart from
the front seat squabs which both show signs of wear, as shown in the photos.
Starting promptly and running sweetly as we have moved it around on
site, it has two sets of keys and no doubt has many more years of faithful
service ahead of it.
